About Safeware

At Safeware, our mission is to protect those who protect us. Since 1979, we've been a trusted distributor of safety products, equipment, and services supporting public safety professionals, government agencies, and organizations across the country.

Our success is built on strong relationships, industry expertise, and a commitment to excellence. We're looking for talented professionals who share our passion for delivering exceptional service and meaningful results.

About the Opportunity

Safeware is seeking an experienced and results-driven Capital Projects Manager to lead the successful execution of large-scale construction and facility improvement projects.

In this role, you'll oversee multiple projects simultaneously, managing everything from scope development and budgeting to scheduling, contractor coordination, and final delivery. You'll serve as a key point of contact between internal teams, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership of results, and knows how to balance competing priorities without compromising quality or customer satisfaction.

This position reports to the Director of Sales Operations and requires approximately 20% travel to customer and project locations.

What You'll Do

  • Lead Project Execution: Plan, organize, and oversee multiple large-scale construction and facility improvement projects from award through completion.
  • Manage Budgets and Schedules: Develop and maintain project budgets, critical path schedules, scopes of work, and supporting documentation to ensure successful execution.
  • Drive Project Performance: Monitor project progress, financial performance, quality, and timelines while proactively addressing potential delays or cost overruns.
  • Coordinate Stakeholders: Collaborate with contractors, vendors, architects, engineers, customers, and internal teams to maintain alignment and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee Contractor Performance: Ensure external partners meet established expectations for quality, scheduling, safety, and contractual obligations.
  • Mitigate Risk: Identify potential project risks, resolve challenges, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
  • Provide Reporting and Forecasting: Prepare accurate project updates, cost forecasts, and performance reports for leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure Compliance: Maintain adherence to applicable construction codes, safety regulations, quality standards, and company policies.
  • Support Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve project processes, operational efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience managing capital construction, facility improvement, or similar complex projects, preferably in a corporate or industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple concurrent projects with accountability for scope, budgets, schedules, and outcomes.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, contract administration, project planning, and safety regulations.
  • Experience managing contractors, vendors, consultants, and cross-functional project teams.
  • Proficiency with project management software, critical path scheduling tools, and cost-tracking systems.
  • Strong Microsoft 365 skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 30% as business needs require.

Additional Experience That Will Help You Succeed

  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
  • Understanding of logistics, order fulfillment, and customer return processes within a distribution environment.
  • Familiarity with government customer expectations, service-level requirements, and contract deliverables.

What Success Looks Like

In this role, success means more than simply completing projects. You'll be expected to deliver measurable results by:

  • Consistently completing projects on time and within approved budgets while meeting profitability targets.
  • Maintaining accurate project forecasts, documentation, and reporting.
  • Identifying risks early and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Holding contractors and project partners accountable for performance, safety, and quality.
  • Building strong working relationships and maintaining clear, proactive communication with stakeholders.

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029
Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
