Safeware, Inc. is seeking a Purchasing Agent to assist the Purchasing department with the day-to-day operations. You will be responsible for interacting with suppliers via email and phone to maintain inventory levels, pricing and delivery schedules. You will interact with internal personnel as a liaison between inventory needs and customer orders. You will also help ensure that stock is maintained on a consistent basis and that the cost prices lead to maximum gross profit opportunities. This position is located in Richmond, Virginia or Philadelphia, PA.

Responsibilities:
- Obtain requirements by verifying, preparing, and forwarding purchase orders
- Authorize payment via Credit Card when necessary
- Verify purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to existing inventory, clarifying unclear items and recommending alternatives
- Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and prices
- Obtain recommendations from suppliers for substitute items, including obtaining approval from customer service representative and customer.
- Notify sales and customer service concerning delays
- Provide purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends.
- Help maintain current price list data within P21
- Help maintain inventory data integrity
- Review and resolve supplier invoice discrepancies
- Other tasks as assigned by management
- High School diploma or GED certificate
- Basic knowledge of supply chain activities in a Distribution environment
- Strong organizational skills
- Close attention to detail
- Demonstrates the ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions and problems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Possesses effective written and verbal communication skills
- Shows the ability to work well under pressure and deadlines
- Exhibits the ability to work well with others and maintain organization between cross-related departments
- Proficient in Prophet 21
- Has a detailed knowledge of Public Safety/Safeware products
